HDFC Bank Implements a 2-Step Authentication Process
13th September, 2010 - Mumbai, India
HDFC Bank has implemented a new security solution for its customers - Secure Access. The aim of this 2-step authentication process is to protect your customers from fraudsters and hackers - who are looking to find a way to access their accounts.

Secure Access is an enhanced security service for all its Third Party Registered Customers. This service will monitor NetBanking Third Party Transactions (TPT) with an aim of blocking / reporting any deviant transactions. Secure Access covers the following transactions types:
Transfer from one HDFC Bank account to other HDFC Bank account holders (under distinct customer ID)
Transfer from HDFC Bank account to any other Bank's account (also known as RTGS & NEFT)
Visa Money Transfer
Third Party Demand Draft through NetBanking
How Secure Access works?
HDFC Bank's NetBanking login will now be a two-step process:
In Screen 1, the customer will have to key-in his customer id
In Screen 2, he customer will have to key-in his password
This 2-step process is a security measure, which on entering his customer iwill verify whether the customer is registered for Third Party Transfers (TPT). If he is not Third Party Transfer registered, the next screen will have a box to key-in his password. If he is registered for Third Party Transfers, he will shown an image and text that have been personalized by him during registration for Secure Access. In order for customers to perform a TPT transaction, it is mandatory that they register for Secure Access Service.

Simply put, Secure Access is an additional layer of security that is essentially a solution protecting your customer's account from hackers and fraudsters.

Note: Secure Access requires a one-time registration effort that customers will need to undertake. Click here to learn more.
