CCAvenue launches Tap to Own Device (TTOD) at Global Fintech Fest 2026, enabling smartphones to accept contactless card payments
11th September, 2026
CCAvenue, India’s leading digital payments powerhouse and a flagship brand of AvenuesAI, today announced the launch of Tap to Own Device (TTOD) at the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026. Powered by CCAvenue’s SoftPOS SDK, the solution enables compatible smartphones to function as payment acceptance devices, allowing customers to make payments by simply tapping their contactless credit or debit card on the back of the smartphone.
TTOD brings contactless card acceptance directly to a smartphone, reducing the need for conventional POS hardware in applicable use cases. With the solution, a merchant can use a compatible smartphone equipped with CCAvenue’s SoftPOS technology to accept contactless card payments. The customer simply selects the tap-to-pay option, taps their contactless card on the back of the phone and completes the transaction, with a PIN required for transactions above the applicable threshold.
The solution is designed to make digital payment acceptance more accessible and flexible for businesses, particularly in environments where mobility and ease of deployment are important. For instance, a small retailer, delivery executive, service professional or mobile merchant can potentially use a compatible smartphone as a payment acceptance device, enabling them to accept contactless card payments without depending solely on traditional POS terminals.
Speaking on the launch, Vishwas Patel, Managing Director & CEO at AvenuesAI Limited, said, "With TTOD, we are taking payment acceptance beyond the traditional POS terminal and bringing it to the smartphone. Our SoftPOS technology enables businesses to use compatible mobile devices to accept contactless card payments in a simple and convenient manner. This gives merchants greater flexibility in how they accept payments and can make card acceptance more accessible across a wider range of business use cases."
CCAvenue’s SoftPOS SDK provides the underlying technology required to enable contactless card acceptance on compatible mobile devices. The solution incorporates security components, software-based protection and an attestation server, along with cloud hosting and monitoring and reporting capabilities. It also supports EMV payment configuration and helps provide a secure and scalable foundation for smartphone-based payment acceptance.
With TTOD, CCAvenue aims to expand the role of the smartphone from a payment instrument to a payment acceptance device, giving merchants greater flexibility while creating new possibilities for mobile and on-the-go card acceptance.
